"In our lives there is always something we experience for the very first time that leaves an impression.
My first day with GCO I was flooded with new impressions. Day one, the very first time, I met my new colleagues in this new company in this new position and on top of all this, particpated in the very first crisis management training in my life and in the history of GCO as well.
It was a deep unknown water and I was thrown in to swim alongside the others.
It was my responsibility to record and report everything that was happening over the course of the day in the whole building. With all the action going on, I learnt all the new names in one hour. As a newcomer, it was an excellent opportunity to see in action the roles people play at GCO. I saw my new colleagues laughing at themselves, trying to keep their roles even if though it was a mock situation.
To have this posibility to see all this from the very beginning is in my opinion priceless. Swimming in a such water was not easy, I realised that it was going to be very challenging for me to keep up with the rythm and speed of the company, but on the other hand, it seemed worth a try.
I wish everybody could have a chance to start in his or her new job as I did, with the possibility to get an orientation concerning the structure and internal life of the company before the real work will start. Everybody should be first faced with these "first impresions“ and decide if this is the place where he or she will like to be.
Now, after few months with GCO, there is still a lot of "first time impressions". However, I often look back and laugh at the drama and action that was the GCO Crisis Management Day."
